1--788-18513.   Great horned owl.  Intake 8-19-1993.  First admitted for shoulder injury, bruised tear on chest and torn iris.  Healed and was released 9-20-93.  Re admitted on 7-11-97 at #840 grams, again shoulder still massive trauma, could not fly.  Held as an educational and foster parent.  Improved and was re-released 9-1999. 

 

2--608-78282.  Great horned baby.  Intake spring 1994.  Raised with our male educational bird as a foster parent.  Released on 8-24-94 in a swampy area north of New London Wisconsin.  On the morn of 10-24-94 got a call to pick up the dead banded owl on the side of the road in the swamp.  Took the dead bird to the vets for an x-ray.  The bird weighed #1400 grams and smelled of skunk.  The owl was making it on her own before some uncaring person SHOT her.  The adult male owl did a good job on raising her.  GUNSHOT BIRD.

 

3--608-78282.  Great horned baby.  Intake Spring 1994.  This immature owl was released here in New London on 7-31-94 and went some 15 miles south east of us and was hit by a car on Oct.21,  1994.   Dead weight # 1372, this owl was also doing fine on it's own, but made a bad choice of hunting area.  Was not starving.   Again the male owl did a good job on raising this bird.  

4--608-78281.  Great horned owl found in fence, starving outside Winchester,Wi. on 06-23-93.   Wintered this bird over, immature, and released on 04-23-94.   Found dead on highway on 05-04-94.  Possible car hit.
